The Hidden World of Whales
Monday April 24th, 2017 at 7:30 PM until 9 PM
University of Victoria (Fraser Building, 159)
MARINE NIGHT Victoria Natural History Society
Most whale behaviour is conducted underwater out of sight where they employ ‘invisible’ acoustics as their principle means of finding food, navigating, and communicating. Dr. Rianna Burnham is a post-doc in the Whale Lab at UVic who is exploring how ecology and acoustic studies can be used to ‘see’ into the lives of some of the largest animals on the planet. Bones, photographs, video, recordings, and results from cutting edge research will be used to aid the discussion.
