Dr. Ofer Amram
Post-Doctoral Fellow, BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS

This talk will provide an overview of Dr. Amram’s research, describing the use of individual level data to examine both the relationship between social factors and health outcomes, and the impact of access to care on health outcomes. Providing examples from studies conducted in the areas of pediatric injury and HIV research, the presentation will focus on: 1) the relationship between socio-economic status and pediatric traumatic brain injury; and 2) the impact of access to health care services on HIV-related health outcomes. In addition, the talk will include a discussion of methods of analysis and visualization, and will demonstrate a web-based map used to visualize data on HIV status in BC. The talk will conclude with an outline of Dr. Amram’s vision for future work in the field of health and GIS.
