With heart, laughs and one of the purest on-screen friendships this year, it is hard not to fall in love with The Peanut Butter Falcon. The film follows Zak (Zak Gottsagan) a young man with Down Syndrome who escapes his dreary, constricting care home for freedom and adventure. Obsessed with attending the wrestling school of his hero, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church), Zak and encounters fisherman Tyler (Shia LaBeouf). Together, they head towards Florida so Zak can achieve his dreams of becoming a wrestler. Eleanor, a volunteer from Zak’s care home (Dakota Johnson) joins them on their journey. Gottsagan, LaBeouf and Johnson deliver intensely realistic performances of three humans looking for healing and connection. Life might be imitating art or vice versa, who knows? One thing is certain: The Peanut Butter Falcon is a wonderful piece of art.

“Quite possibly the feel-good movie of the year.” San Diego Reader“LaBeouf remains one of the most commanding actors of his generation.” The Detroit NewsCast Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, Zack Gottsagen
