Presentation by Janet Munsil, CSRS Artist in Residence
After more than a decade in a wheelchair, a young woman with a spinal cord injury has a dream of healing, in which she stands and walks. Munsil’s latest play examines how the woman’s rapid and unexpected recovery, attributed to her faith, could impact family, friends, healthcare providers, and the disability community. Written for a future season at Vancouver’s Realwheels Theatre, Act of Faith explores certainty, identity, stigma, and the embodiment of disability and faith. This lecture will incorporate readings of scenes from the play.
